Stripling struck out six over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 3-0 win over the Indians.

Stripling earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 61st among all players and 24th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Giants pitcher Jay Jackson struck out three over one inning of scoreless middle relief, allowing no hits and no walks, in the 5-4, 10-inning win over the Diamondbacks. Jackson did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Giants trailed when he exited.

This was Jackson’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Jackson made his Major League debut Sept. 14, 2015, and was playing in his 45th career game.

American League Batter of the Day—Joey Gallo of the Yankees hit a three-run homer and two doubles in the 5-3 win over the Mariners. Gallo went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs.

This is the first time Gallo has won Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors since being traded last week from the Rangers to the Yankees. He has 4.0 Box-Toppers points for the season, 28th among AL batters.

National League Batter of the Day—Trevor Story of the Rockies hit two home runs and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 6-5 win over the Cubs.

Notable—Joey Votto of the Reds has the most 2021 Box-Toppers points among Thursday’s 12 Player of the Game winners.

Votto (HR 1-4 R 3BI in the 7-4 win over the Pirates) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 8.0 for the season, 40th among all players and second among NL batters, behind teammate Nick Castellanos (8.0). Though both Votto and Castellanos have 8.0 Box-Toppers points for the season, Castellanos ranks higher because he has more 2020 Box-Toppers points—1.0 vs. 0.0.
