About Box-Toppers’ team abbreviations

Meanwhile, Brandon Woodruff of the Brewers continues to lead National League pitchers and both leagues have new Box-Toppers points leaders among batters—Xander Bogaerts of the Red Sox rises to lead American League batters and Brandon Crawford of the Giants rises to lead NL batters.

Glasnow has 12.7 Box-Toppers points in 2021, picking up 2.0 points in the past week, leading all players. He also leads all AL pitchers for the third straight week. He ranks ahead of Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole (12.4).

National League pitchers—Brandon Woodruff of the Brewers leads for the second straight week with 10.4 Box-Toppers points, picking up no points in the past week. He ranks third place overall, maintaining his rank from last week. He leads second-place NL pitcher Jacob deGrom of the Mets (10.0).

American League batters—Xander Bogaerts of the Red Sox rises to lead AL batters with 6.5 Box-Toppers points, passing teammate J.D. Martinez (6.2), who led for eight straight weeks. Martinez falls to second place. Bogaerts is 20th among all players in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

National League batters—Brandon Crawford of the Giants rises to lead NL batters with 5.5 Box-Toppers points, passing last week’s leader Adam Duvall of the Marlins (4.5), who falls to third. Crawford leads second-place NL batter Jesse Winker of the Reds (5.0). Crawford is 34th in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

Top 10 list exits and entrances—Two players rise into Box-Toppers top 10 overall players list this week:

  • Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta rises to sixth place with 8.7 points.

  • Marlins pitcher Trevor Rogers rises to ninth place with 8.0 points.

They displace two players who were on the top 10 list last week—White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn and Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer.

The #BT40—The Box-Toppers 40 (#BT40) is made up of the 40 players on Box-Toppers’ four top 10 category lists—AL and NL pitchers and batters. The #BT40 are listed in the chart at the top of this page.

Four players joined the #BT40 this week:

  • Dylan Cease of the White Sox rises to eighth place among AL pitchers with 6.7 points.

  • Jose Ramirez of the Indians rises to seventh place among AL batters with 3.5 points.

  • Taijuan Walker of the Mets rises to 10th place among NL pitchers with 6.7 points.

  • Manny Machado of the Padres rises to ninth place among NL batters with 4.2 points.

Those four displace these four players: Rays pitcher Ryan Yarbrough, Andrew Benintendi of the Royals, Cubs pitcher Craig Kimbrel and Jake Cronenworth of the Padres.

It should be noted that the #BT40 are not the overall top 40 players, but the top 10 in each of four categories. The lowest-ranking player among the #BT40 is C.J. Cron of the Rockies (3.0 points, 10th among NL batters), who ranks 108th overall.
