Player of the Day—Anderson struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing one run and one walk, in the 5-0 win over the Cubs.

This was Taylor’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Taylor made his Major League debut Sept. 7, 2019, and was playing in his 48th career game.

American League Batter of the Day—There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Tuesday because overall AL Player of the Day was batter Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Rankings—Astros pitcher Cristian Javier rises to eighth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

Javier (7IP 2H 0R 3BB 6K W in the 2-0 win over the Mariners) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 4.0 for the season. He ranks fourth among AL pitchers.

Notable—Yankees pitcher Corey Kluber, earning his first Player of the Game honor in more than two years Tuesday, now has 110.1 career Box-Toppers points.

Kluber (6.2IP 6H R 2BB 5K W in the 5-1 win over the Orioles) last earned Player of the Game honors Sept. 24, 2018, with the Indians. Injuries limited him to seven games in 2019 and one game in 2020 with the Rangers. Tuesday was his fifth start for the Yankees in 2021.

Also notable—Tigers pitcher Jose Cisnero earned his first Player of the Game honor in nearly eight years Tuesday.

Cisnero (1IP H 0R BB 3K ND in the 5-2 win over the White Sox) last earned Player of the Game honors June 26, 2013, with the Astros. He earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points in 2013 and now has 3.0 career points.

Cisnero was out of Major League Baseball from 2015 to 2018, playing in the Mexican and independent leagues. He was playing in his 75th game since returning to the Majors in 2019.

Debut—Indians closing pitcher James Karinchak made his Box-Toppers debut Tuesday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
