Also Wednesday, Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom rises to fourth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning National League Player of the Day honors. Plus, Rays pitcher Charlie Morton maintains his fifth-place spot in season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Greinke struck out nine over 8 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 3-0 win over the Mariners.

Greinke earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 17.9 for the season, seventh among all players and fifth among American League pitchers. He’s earned 4.7 points since his July 31 trade from the Diamondbacks.

National League Batter of the Day—Joc Pederson of the Dodgers hit two homers and went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 6-4 win over the Padres.

American League Batter of the Day—Mitch Moreland of the Red Sox homered and went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 10-3 win over the Rangers.

Rankings—Rays pitcher Charlie Morton maintains his fifth-place spot in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Wednesday.

Morton (6IP H 0R 3BB 9K W in the 4-0 win over the Yankees) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 18.8 for the season. He rises to third place among AL pitchers, behind Astros pitchers Gerrit Cole (31.2) and Justin Verlander (26.5).

Debut—Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak made his Box-Toppers debut Wednesday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
