With the first phase of voting wrapping up Thursday for the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, here’s a look at Box-Toppers points leaders at each position in both leagues, through games played Tuesday, June 23.
This illustration shows my choices as I cast a single official All-Star ballot using 2026 Box-Toppers points leaders at each position. However, Kody Clemens of the Twins, who leads AL outfielders in 2026 Box-Toppers points with 4.5, did not appear on the official ballot and wasn’t available as a write-in option. Because he was excluded, I instead voted for Wade Meckler of the Angels, the next-highest ranked available AL outfielder, who sits just behind the leaders with 4.0 Box-Toppers points.
The first phase of fan voting closes Thursday. The second phase features finalist voting from Monday, June 29 to Thursday, July 2. (Here is more information about how that works.) The All-Star Game is Tuesday, July 14, at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Box-Toppers offers two perspectives on All-Star teams: the current 2026 season leaders, and the cumulative leaders across the combined 2025 and 2026 seasons.
As shown in the chart, there are 10 players who make both the 2026 and 2025-26 All-Star teams:
American League
First base—Nick Kurtz, Athletics
Outfield—Cody Bellinger, Yankees
Starting pitcher—Bryan Woo, Mariners
Starting pitcher—José Soriano, Angels
Closing pitcher—Cade Smith, Guardians
National League
First base—Sal Stewart, Reds
Second base—Ketel Marte, Diamondbacks
Outfield—James Wood, Nationals
Starting pitcher—Cristopher Sánchez, Phillies
Closing pitcher—Mason Miller, Padres
Both leagues feature a 14-spot roster: five traditional infield positions, three outfielders, four starting pitcher, one closing pitcher and one designated hitter. While fans do not vote for All-Star pitchers, Box-Toppers tracks the statistical leaders for both periods.
Box-Toppers Category Leaders
2026 NL Pitching & Overall Leader: Cristopher Sánchez (Phillies) leads all players with 13.7 Box-Toppers points in 2026.
2025-26 NL Pitching & Overall Leader: Paul Skenes (Pirates) leads all players over the two-year stretch with 30.1 points.
2026 AL Pitching Leader: Cam Schlittler (Yankees) leads AL pitchers with 11.7 points.
2025-26 AL Pitching Leader: Bryan Woo (Mariners) leads AL pitchers over the two-year period with 28.4 points.
2026 NL Batting Leader: Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers) leads NL batters with 10.7 points as the 2026 DH. Ohtani earned Player of the Game honors nine times this season—three as a batter (3.0 points) and six as a pitcher (7.7 points). Because he earned at least 25% of his points in each role, his full 10.7-point total qualifies him to rank at both positions. Separately, both his 7.7 points as a pitcher and his 3.0 points as a designated hitter would be too low to make the All-Star team at either position on their own.
2026 AL Batting Leader: Nick Kurtz (Athletics) leads AL batters with 6.0 points.
2025-26 NL Batting Leader: Kyle Schwarber (Phillies) leads NL batters over the two-year span with 18.7 points.
2025-26 AL Batting Leader: Riley Greene (Tigers) leads AL batters over the two-year span with 12.5 points.
About Box-Toppers
