Player of the Day: Brandon Sproat, Brewers
Sproat struck out 10 over six innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 2-0 win over the Reds.
Sproat did not allow a baserunner until the fourth inning, when he hit JJ Bleday with a pitch. He did not allow a hit until the sixth inning, giving up a single to Jose Trevino.
On Monday, Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff won Box-Toppers Player of the Day with a very similar linescore—striking out 10 over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 2-1, 10-inning win over the Reds. Like Sproat, Woodruff also carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning (in Woodruff’s case, a perfect game) before surrendering his only hit. While Woodruff didn't factor into the decision of his 10-inning game, both Brandons recorded matching +15.0 Box-Toppers game scores.
Sproat earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.0 for the season, 100th among all players and 36th among National League pitchers.
AL Player of the Day: Ryan Johnson, Angels
Johnson struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 5-1 win over the Orioles.
Johnson was also pitching a no-hitter into the sixth inning before giving up his only hit to Jeremiah Jackson with one out.
Johnson earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as American League Player of the Day in his Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Johnson made his Major League debut March 27, 2025, and was playing in his 20th career game.
Johnson’s 1.7 points in 2026 ranks 95th among AL pitchers.
NL Batter of the Day: Bryson Stott, Phillies
Stott hit a ninth-inning, go-ahead, three-run homer and went 3-for-4, scoring four times and driving in three runs, in the 14-9 win over the Nationals.
AL Batter of the Day: Nick Loftin, Royals
Loftin homered and went 4-for-5, scoring four times and driving in two runs, in the 12-5 win over the Rays.
