Dodgers lead Box-Toppers team rankings for 2nd week; Twins rise to lead AL teams

Here are Box-Toppers 2026 team rankings through games of Thursday, April. 16. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team have accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows the number of points teams have accumulated in the past week. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of April 9.

The Los Angeles Dodgers maintain first place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the second straight week.

The Minnesota Twins rise to lead American League teams, while the San Diego Padres are the hottest team of the past week.

Dodgers lead

Los Angeles maintains its hold on first place with 18.3 Box-Toppers points, adding 7.1 this week. While the San Diego Padres surged from 12th to second place (15.6 points) with a week-high 7.2-point gain, they couldn't catch the Dodgers, who boast MLB’s best winning percentage (.778).

Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto leads the Dodgers (3.7 points, fifth overall and first among NL pitchers). Shohei Ohtani leads Dodgers batters with 2.7 points (second among NL batters); notably, all his 2026 points have come from pitching, though he remains ranked among batters based on 2025 performance. The next-highest ranking Dodgers batter is Max Muncy (1.7 points, 10th among NL batters). Ten different Dodgers players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2026.

Twins lead AL teams

The Minnesota Twins rise to first among AL teams with 14.2 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.0 in the past week. They pass last week’s leader, the New York Yankees, who fall to fifth among AL teams (and 11th overall) with 12.5 points, picking up 2.0 in the past week.

The Twins jump from sixth to third place overall.

They have the second-best winning percentage among AL teams (.579) behind the Tampa Bay Rays (.611).

The Twins are led by pitcher Taj Bradley (4.7 points, second overall and second among AL pitchers). Twins top batter is Tristan Gray (2.5 points, third among AL batters). Seven different Twins players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2026.

Biggest rise: Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays had the biggest jump in Box-Toppers team rankings this week, rising 14 spots from 27th to 13th with 12.0 points, picking up 6.5 in the past week. The Rays won all six of their games this week.

Biggest fall: Mets

The New York Mets fell from 16th to 29th place this week, falling 13 spots in team rankings, the biggest drop. The Mets picked up no points in the past week, giving them 7.0 points in 2026. They lost all six of their games this week and have lost eight in a row.

Last place: White Sox

The Chicago White Sox fell from 26th place last week to 30th and last place this week with 6.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.0 in the past week. Last week’s lowest-ranked team, the Detroit Tigers, rose to 18th place with 10.5 points, picking up 6.0 in the past week.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
