Tigers pass Dodgers to regain Box-Toppers team rankings lead, Phillies top NL teams

The Detroit Tigers regain first place in Box-Toppers team rankings at the All-Star break, passing the Los Angeles Dodgers, who led the last team rankings report July 3.

Here are Box-Toppers 2025 team rankings through games of Sunday, July 13. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from July 4 to July 13. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of July 3.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies rise to lead National League teams and the Boston Red Sox are the hottest team of the past 10 days.

Tigers lead

Tigers players have accumulated 71.3 Box-Toppers points this season, including 5.7 in the past 10 days, rising from second place July 3 to first place at the All-Star break, passing the previous top team, the Dodgers, who fall to fifth overall with 68.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up 2.0 in the past 10 days.

The Tigers have led all teams for three of the past four weeks and lead American League teams for the fourth week in a row. They lead AL teams ahead of the second-place New York Yankees, who have 68.3 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.5 in the past 10 days and rise from fifth place overall on July 3 to fourth place.

The Tigers have baseball’s best winning percentage (.608) and are led by pitcher Tarik Skubal (14.4 Box-Toppers points, second among all players, first among AL pitchers). Tigers’ best batter is Riley Greene (9.0 points, first among AL batters). Twenty-two different Tigers players have earned Player of the Game honors so far this season.

Phillies top NL teams

The Philadelphia Phillies rise to lead NL teams with 70.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.0 since July 3, rising from third to second place overall. They pass the NL team leader as of July 3, the Dodgers, who fall to fifth overall, third among NL teams.

The Phillies rank ahead of the second-place NL team, the Chicago Cubs with 69.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.9 in the past 10 days, rising from fourth to third place overall.

The Phillies have the fourth-best winning percentage among NL teams (.573), behind the Dodgers (.598), the Cubs (.594) and the Milwaukee Brewers (.583). The Brewers are seventh in Box-Toppers team rankings with 63.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 9.0 in the past 10 days, rising from 12th place on July 3.

The Phillies are led by pitcher Zack Wheeler (18.1 points, first overall). Phillies top batter is Kyle Schwarber (4.0 points, 25th among NL batters). Eighteen different Phillies players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2025.

Hottest team: Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are the hottest team since the last team rankings report on July 3, picking up 13.9 Box-Toppers points, most of any team over that span. The Red Sox now have 66.4 Box-Toppers points for the season, rising from 17th to sixth place overall. Their 11-spot rise is the biggest jump among all teams this week.

The Red Sox won all 10 of their games since July 3.

Biggest fall: Reds

The Cincinnati Reds fell seven spots from seventh place on July 3 to 14th place Sunday with 61.3 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.0 points in the past 10 days, the biggest drop among all teams.

Last place: Rockies

The Colorado Rockies remain in 30th and last place for the 13th straight week with 27.3 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.2 points in the past 10 days.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
