Tigers lead Box-Toppers team rankings for 2nd week; Dodgers continue NL team lead

The Detroit Tigers maintain their lead in Box-Toppers team rankings this week.

Team rankings

Here are Box-Toppers 2025 team rankings through games of Thursday, June 26. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from June 20 to June 26. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of June 19.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to lead National League teams and the Tampa Bay Rays are the week’s hottest team.

Tigers lead

Tigers players have accumulated 61.1 Box-Toppers points this season, picking up 3.0 points in the past week to lead for the second week in a row, ahead of the Dodgers (61.0 points). The Tigers also lead American League teams, ahead of the the New York Yankees (59.3 points, picking up 3.0 in the past week).

The Tigers and Dodgers are tied for baseball’s best winning percentage (.622). The Tigers are led by pitcher Tarik Skubal (10.7 Box-Toppers points, sixth among all players, fourth among AL pitchers). Tigers’ best batter is Riley Greene (7.5 points, first among AL batters). Twenty different Tigers players have earned Player of the Game honors so far this season.

Dodgers lead NL teams

The Dodgers lead NL teams for the second week in a row with 61.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.2 in the past week. They rise from third to second place among all teams, trailing the overall leader Tigers, by 0.1 point. They lead NL teams ahead of the second-place Philadelphia Phillies (57.9 points, picking up 3.0 in the past week).

The Dodgers are led by pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (10.0 Box-Toppers points, eighth among all players and fourth among NL pitchers). Dodgers’ top batter is Max Muncy (6.0 Box-Toppers points, fifth among NL batters). Twenty-four different Dodgers players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2025.

Hottest team: Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays are the week’s hottest team, picking up 7.0 Box-Toppers points in the past week, most of any team. The Rays now have 52.7 Box-Toppers points for the season, rising from 14th to 11th place overall.

The Rays won five of their six games this week to pick up 7.0 Box-Toppers points:

  • 1.0 point on June 20 by catcher Matt Thaiss for winning Player of the Game.

  • 1.0 point on June 21 by starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot for winning Player of the Game.

  • 2.0 points on June 24 by starting pitcher Taj Bradley for winning overall Player of the Day.

  • 1.0 point on June 25 by starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen for winning Player of the Game.

  • 2.0 points on June 26 by starting pitcher Shane Baz for winning overall Player of the Day.

Biggest rise: Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers made the biggest jump in rankings this week, rising six spots from 18th to 12th place with 50.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.0 points in the past week.

Biggest fall: Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox had the biggest drop in rankings this week, falling seven spots from ninth to 16th place with 49.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.0 point in the past week.

Last place: Rockies

The Colorado Rockies remain in 30th and last place for the 11th straight week with 22.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.0 point in the past week.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
