Cardinals’ Mikolas tops players for Wednesday, April 30; Guardians’ Ortiz tops AL players

Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Editor’s note: It’s an abbreviated Box-Toppers Daily Scorecard today. My mother died Wednesday morning. While she was 85 and had overcome some health struggles and was dealing with others, her passing was still sudden and unexpected, which is how she would have wanted it.

For today, Box-Toppers will present the Player of the Game winners chart and the chart with the Box-Toppers point totals of Player of the Game winners with a more limited narrative.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
