Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Sunday’s American League Championship Series Game 1.
AL Championship Series Game 1: Seattle 3, Blue Jays 1
Miller struck out three over six innings, allowing one run, two hits and three walks.
Miller gave up a home run on his first pitch to George Springer of the Blue Jays, but kept them scoreless in his next 75 pitches. Miller and three Mariners relievers threw a combined 100 pitches.
The Mariners lead the best-of-seven game series, 1-0.
Miller earned 3.0 Box-Toppers points in 2025, 302nd among all players and 89th among AL pitchers. In his 2023 rookie season, he earned 13.1 Box-Toppers points, 11th among AL pitchers and in 2024, he had 15.7 Box-Toppers points, third among AL pitchers.
He started one previous game this postseason, in the AL Division Series Game 4 loss against the Tigers on Oct. 8 (4.1IP 4H 2R 0BB 2K ND).
Miller records a +2.0 Box-Toppers game score Sunday. Andrés Muñoz, who picked up the save for the Mariners, had a +1.0 game score (1IP 0H 0R 0BB 0K Sv). Mariners top batter is Jorge Polanco with a 0.0 game score (2-4 0R 2BI). Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman recorded the game’s highest game score of +2.2 in the loss (5.2IP 3H 2R BB 5K L).

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day. (No Box-Toppers points are awarded in postseason games.)
Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
