The Philadelphia Phillies rise to lead Box-Toppers team rankings and are the week’s hottest team.

Here are Box-Toppers 2024 final team rankings through games of Thursday, April 25. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from April. 19 to 25. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of April 18.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians rise to lead American League teams this week, rising to second place overall.

Phillies lead

Phillies players have accumulated 23.8 Box-Toppers points so far this season, picking up 7.7 points in the past week, most of any team, rising from third to first overall. It is the second straight week the Phillies have been Box-Toppers’ hottest team.

The Phillies rise past last week’s top-ranked team, the Kansas City Royals, who fall to fourth overall with 20.4 points, picking up 4.0 in the past week. The Phillies also rise past last week’s top-ranked National League team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who fall to sixth overall, third among NL teams, with 20.2 points, picking up 4.0 points in the past week.

The Phillies have a winning percentage of .615, tied for the seventh-best in baseball and rank second in the NL East, behind the Atlanta Braves, who have baseball’s best winning percentage (.739). The Braves are third in Box-Toppers team rankings with 20.7 points, picking up 7.2 in the past week

The Phillies are led by pitcher Ranger Suarez (5.0 points, third overall and second among NL pitchers). Phillies top batter is Bryce Harper (1.7 points, 13th among NL batters). Ten different Phillies players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.

Guardians lead AL teams

Guardians players have accumulated 21.2 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.2 points in the past week, rising from fifth overall last week to second this week. The Guardians pass last week’s AL team leader, the Royals (20.4 points, 4.0 points in the past week), who fall from third to fourth overall and second among AL teams.

The Guardians have the AL’s best winning percentage (.720) and second-best among all teams, behind the Braves (.739).

The Guardians are led by pitcher Tanner Bibee with 3.0 Box-Toppers points, 25th among all players and 12th among AL pitchers. Guardians top batter is Andres Gimenez with 3.0 points, second among AL batters. Fifteen different Guardians players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.

Biggest rise: Braves, Tigers

The Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers made the biggest jump in Box-Toppers team rankings, both rising six spots:

  • The Braves rise from ninth to third place overall with 20.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 7.2 points in the past week.

  • The Tigers rise from 19th to 13th place overall with 16.4 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.9 points in the past week.

Biggest fall: Rangers

The Texas Rangers fell 12 spots in the past week, the biggest decline among all teams, from seventh to 19th place with 15.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.0 in the past week.

Last place: White Sox

The Chicago White Sox remain in  30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the second straight week with 4.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up no points in the past week.

That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
