Blue Jays pitcher Dylan Cease is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Other top players Saturday include Padres pitcher Randy Vásquez, Liam Hicks of the Marlins, Luis Robert Jr. of the White Sox and Brayan Rocchio of the Guardians.
Player of the Day: Dylan Cease, Blue Jays
Cease struck out 12 over 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run, three hits and two walks, in the 8-7, 11-inning win over the Athletics. Cease did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because he exited with the game in a 1-1 tie.
Cease is now one of five players tied at the top of the season rankings with 2.0 points; he currently ranks fourth based on his 2025 total of 9.7 points. Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sánchez maintains the overall lead via the 2025 tie-breaker (15.4 points).
Cease’s 9.7 points in 2025 with the Padres was 24th among National League pitchers.
NL Player of the Day: Randy Vásquez, Padres
Vásquez struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks, in the 3-0 win over the Tigers.
He earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points, his first of the season, and is eighth in season player rankings. He earned 5.4 points in 2025, 56th among NL pitchers.
NL Batter of the Day: Liam Hicks, Marlins
Hicks hit a home run, a sacrifice fly and went 1-for-2, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 4-3 win over the Rockies.
AL Batter of the Day: Brayan Rocchio, Guardians
Rocchio scored twice in a 6-5, 10-inning win over the Mariners. After reaching on a walk to score his first run, he started the 10th as the extra-inning runner and scored the go-ahead run.
Notable: Luis Robert Jr., Mets
Robert became the first player to earn Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for a second time in 2026 on Saturday.
Robert hit a walk-off, 11th-inning, three-run homer, in the 4-2 win over the Pirates. Robert (HR 1-4 R 3BI) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point. He also earned 1.0 point as Player of the Game on Thursday (2-4 R 2BI in the 11-7 win over the Pirates).
His 2.0 Box-Toppers points for the season ranks fifth overall, behind four other players with 2.0 points on the season. Robert ranks lowest among the five based on his 2025 Box-Toppers point total of 4.0 with the White Sox, which was 49th among American League batters.
