Also Monday, Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet rises to fourth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning American League Player of the Day honors. In addition, Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo rises to seventh place overall after earning Player of the Game honors.

Other Player of the Game winners Monday include Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola, Josh Bell of the Nationals and Royce Lewis of the Twins.

Player of the Day

Glasnow struck out 11 over seven hitless innings, allowing one run and two walks, in the 3-1 win over the Rockies.

Glasnow earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, 151st among all players and 46th among National League pitchers.

Glasnow exited after 105 pitches, not allowing a hit, as the Dodgers took a no-hitter into the ninth inning for the second time in three days. However, reliever Tanner Scott gave up the only hit to the Rockies in the ninth inning, breaking up the no-hitter. But unlike Saturday, when the Dodgers collapsed and lost after 8 2/3 hitless innings to the Orioles, they held on for the win Monday.

Glasnow allowed the only run to the Rockies—without a hit—in the second inning when Jordan Beck walked, advanced to second on a steal, advanced to third on an outfield fly out and scored on a sacrifice fly.

American League Player of the Day is Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet.

American League Player of the Day

Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 7-0 win over the Athletics.

Crochet earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 17.8 for the season, rising from fifth to fourth place overall, passing Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta (17.7 points). Crochet ranks second among AL pitchers, 4.3 points behind Tarik Skubal of the Tigers (22.1 points).

Crochet likely has as many as three starts remaining in the season and he would need to earn Player of the Game honors in all of them, plus earn bonus Box-Toppers points in at least two (as Player of the Day or AL Player of the Day), to have a chance to pass Skubal. And that’s if Skubal does not earn more Box-Toppers points this season.

Crochet recorded a +14.0 Box-Toppers game score Monday, the same score as Glasnow. But Glasnow won Player of the Game honors over Crochet on a tiebreaker with more strikeouts—11 vs. 10.

National League Batter of the Day is Josh Bell of the Nationals.

National League Batter of the Day

Josh Bell of the Nationals hit two home runs and went 4-for-6, scoring three times and driving in six runs, in the 15-7 win over the Marlins.

Bell earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 5.5 for the season, 25th among NL batters.

This is the second straight day Bell has earned Player of the Game honors. He was also Player of the Game in Sunday’s 6-3 win over the Cubs (HR 1-1 R 3BI), earning 1.0 Box-Toppers point.

American League Batter of the Day is Royce Lewis of the Twins.

American League Batter of the Day

Royce Lewis of the Twins hit two home runs and went 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 12-3 win over the Angels.

Lewis earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, 27th among AL batters.

Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 15.0 for the season, rising from 10th to seventh place overall.

Rankings

Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo (6IP 3H 2R 0BB 9K W in the 4-2 win over the Cardinals) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 15.0 for the season, rising from 10th to seventh place overall and third among AL pitchers, behind Tarik Skubal of the Tigers (22.1 points) and Garrett Crochet of the Red Sox (17.8 points).

Woo likely has as many as three starts remaining in the season, which means that even if he earned overall Player of the Day honors worth 2.0 Box-Toppers points each time, he would finish with 21.0 points, not enough to pass Skubal (22.1 points) for the lead among AL pitchers.

Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 118.8 career Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
