Guardians pitcher Slade Cecconi is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Other Player of the Game winners Saturday include Angels pitcher Kyle Hendricks, Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón, Mariners pitcher George Kirby, Nacho Alvarez Jr. of the Braves and Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen.

Player of the Day

Cecconi struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 6-0 win over the Twins.

Cecconi earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, 135th among all players and 52nd among American League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day

Angels pitcher Kyle Hendricks struck out five over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 3-0 win over the Rockies.

Hendricks earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.7 for the season, 32nd among AL pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Angels pitcher Kyle Hendricks.

National League Batter of the Day

Nacho Alvarez Jr. of the Braves hit two home runs and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 6-5 win over the Tigers.

This was Alvarez’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Alvarez made his Major League debut July 22, 2024, and was playing in his 60th career game.

National League Batter of the Day is Nacho Alvarez Jr. of the Braves.

American League Batter of the Day

There is no AL Batter of the Day for Saturday because no AL batter won Player of the Game honors in the 16 games completed.
