Also Friday, two players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after both earn Player of the Game honors: Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi rises to sixth place and Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo rises to ninth place.

Other Player of the Game winners Friday include Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft, Padres pitcher Yu Darvish, Royce Lewis of the Twins and Gabriel Moreno of the Diamondbacks.

Player of the Day

Bieber struck out nine over six innings, allowing one run, two hits and no walks, in the 5-2 win over the Marlins.

Bieber earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 361st among all players, 102nd among American League pitchers.

Bieber was making his first Major League start since undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery in April 2024. Bieber led all players in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season with 11.4 Box-Toppers points, when he was with Cleveland. In 2019 with Cleveland, he ranked sixth overall with 18.1 points, fourth among AL pitchers.

National League Player of the Day

Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft struck out six over five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 9-0 win over the Rockies.

Ashcraft earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 4.7 for the season, 47th among NL pitchers.

National League Player of the Day is Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft.

American League Batter of the Day

Royce Lewis of the Twins hit a grand slam and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 9-7 win over the White Sox.

It would take Eovaldi at least three starts (earning a maximum of 2.0 points each time) to pass Skubal in rankings.

  • Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo (7IP H R 2BB 7K W in the 3-2 win over the Athletics) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 14.0 for the season, rising from 10th to ninth place overall and fourth among AL pitchers.

Padres pitcher Yu Darvish now has 144.4 career Box-Toppers points—33rd-most since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995—after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.
