Reds pitcher Nick Lodolo is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to eighth place in season player rankings.

Also Monday, Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller rises to ninth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning American League Player of the Day honors.

Player of the Day

Lodolo struck out 11 over seven innings, allowing one run, one hit and two walks, in the 5-2 win over the Padres.

Lodolo earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, rising to eighth place among all players and sixth place among National League pitchers.

Lodolo gave up his only hit and only run in the game on his second pitch, giving up a home run to Jurickson Profar of the Padres.

Lodolo is one of six players with 5.0 points in 2024, but ranks lowest among them because he has the fewest 2023 Box-Toppers points in the group (0.0).

American League Player of the Day is Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller.

American League Player of the Day

Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing one run, two hits and one walk, in the 2-1 win over the Braves.

Miller did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Mariners were trailing when he exited. Miller was perfect through five innings, retiring the first 16 batters faced and did not allow a hit until the seventh inning.

Miller earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.7 for the season, rising to ninth place overall, third among AL pitchers, behind Tanner Houck of the Red Sox (6.0 points) and Logan Gilbert of the Mariners (5.0 points).

The other starter in the game, Max Fried of the Braves, also allowed no hits through six innings (6IP 0H 0R 2BB 7K ND) and after he exited, Braves pitchers did not give up a hit until the eighth inning. Fried had a Box-Toppers game score Monday of +11.0, but did not earn Box-Toppers Player of the Game because the Braves lost.

American League Batter of the Day is Tyler Nevin of the Athletics.

Tyler Nevin of the Athletics homered, hit a sacrifice fly and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in two runs, in the 5-1 win over the Pirates.
