Reds pitcher Andrew Abbott is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Sunday, Braves pitcher Spencer Strider rises to lead National League pitchers in 2023 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors. He also rises to fourth place overall.

Player of the Day

Abbott struck out 12 over 7 2/3 innings, allowing one run, four hits and one walk, in the 4-3 win over the Padres. Abbott did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Padres tied the game after he exited.

Abbott earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.0 for the season, 29th among all players and 14th among NL pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Angels pitcher Reid Detmers.

Strider (6.2IP 6H 3R 2R ER 9K W in the 6-3 win over the Marlins) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 10.7 for the season. He rises from seventh to fourth place overall and rises to first place among NL pitchers, passing previous leader Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers (10.1).
