Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to 10th place in season player rankings.

Also Thursday, Braves pitcher Max Fried rises to seventh place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Gallen struck out 12 over 7 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks, in the 5-0 win over the Giants.

Gallen earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 12.7 for the season, 10th among all players and sixth among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Alex Bregman of the Astros hit two homers, two doubles and went 4-for-6, scoring four times and driving in six runs, in the 21-5 win over the White Sox.

Bregman earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, eighth among AL batters.

Rankings—Braves pitcher Max Fried rises from ninth to seventh place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Thursday.

Fried (7IP 4H 2R 0BB 6K W in the 3-2 win over the Mets) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 14.0 for the season. He ranks third among NL pitchers, behind Sandy Alcantara of the Marlins (17.1) and Julio Urias of the Dodgers (15.4).

Notable—Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright becomes the 29th player to reach 10.0 Box-Toppers points in 2022 after earning Player of the Game honors Thursday.

Wainwright (7IP 3H 0R 0BB 7K W in the 13-0 win over the Rockies) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 10.0 for the season, 25th among all players and 13th among NL pitchers.

This is his seventh season with 10.0 or more points. His best season was 2013 with the Cardinals, when he had 20.2 points, second overall and second among NL pitchers. In 2021, he had 12.0 Box-Toppers points, 18th among NL pitchers.
