Tuesday’s pitching matchups (for more, see matchups chart below):

AL Division Series Game 5, Guardians at Yankees, series tied 2-2

Monday’s scheduled Game 5 was postponed by rainy weather in New York until Tuesday. Originally, starting. pitchers were listed as Aaron Civale for the Guardians and Jameson Taillon for the Yankees. At posting time, the Guardians have not officially named a different starter, though presumably their options are different given the added day of rest. The Yankees, however, have changed their listed Game 5 starter to Nestor Cortes. Details:

Guardians—No starter officially announced at posting time. It still could be the scheduled starter prior to Monday’s postponement: Aaron Civale, 5.0 Box-Toppers points in 2022, 160th among all players, 56th among AL pitchers.

Yankees—Nestor Cortes, 15.4 Box-Toppers points in 2022, 19th overall, ninth among AL pitchers.

Civale has yet to appear in the postseason. Cortes started Game 2 Friday, a game the Yankees lost (5IP 6H 2R 3BB 3K ND).
