Blue Jays pitcher Dylan Cease is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to fourth place overall and taking the 2026 Box-Toppers points lead among American League pitchers.
Cease struck out nine over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 2-0 win over the Mariners.
Cease earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 12.4 for the season, rising from seventh to fourth place overall. He jumps to first place among AL pitchers, passing previous leader, Cam Schlittler of the Yankees (11.7).
NL Player of the Day: Jake McCarthy, Rockies
McCarthy hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in the 15-3 win over the Giants. McCarthy went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in six runs.
McCarthy earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as National League Player of the Day, giving him 7.2 for the season, 24th among all players and third among NL batters, behind Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers (12.7) and Dansby Swanson of the Cubs (8.2).
