Mariners pitcher George Kirby is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Monday, Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski extends his lead in Box-Toppers season player rankings and Yordan Alvarez of the Astros climbs to first place among American League batters after both win Player of the Game honors.

Other Player of the Game winners Monday include Dillon Dingler of the Tigers, Trea Turner of the Phillies, Angels pitcher José Soriano and Willson Contreras of the Red Sox.

Player of the Day: George Kirby, Mariners

Kirby struck out six over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 8-0 win over the Reds.

Kirby earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.0 for the season, 122nd among all players and 44th among American League pitchers.

NL Player of the Day: Trea Turner, Phillies.

NL Player of the Day: Trea Turner, Phillies

Turner hit two home runs, including a three-run homer, in the 10-7 win over the Dodgers. Turner also doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in five runs.

Turner earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as National League Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 54th among NL batters.

AL Batter of the Day: Dillon Dingler, Tigers.

AL Batter of the Day: Dillon Dingler, Tigers

Dingler hit two home runs and went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 8-6, 10-inning win over the Cubs.

Dingler earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points as AL Batter of the Day, giving him 6.5 for the season, third among AL batters behind Yordan Alvarez of the Astros (7.5 points) and Nick Kurtz of the Athletics (7.0 points).

There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Monday because the overall NL Player of the Day is batter Trea Turner.

Box-Toppers leader: Jacob Misiorowski, Brewers

Misiorowski increased his lead in 2026 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors Monday.

Misiorowski (4IP 4H R 0ER BB 6K ND in the 8-3 win over the Mets) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 16.0 for the season. He leads over second-place player, Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sánchez (14.7 points). He also leads Sánchez among NL pitchers.

New AL batting leader: Yordan Alvarez, Astros

Alvarez rises to first among AL batters, passing previous leader Nick Kurtz of the Athletics, after earning Player of the Game honors.

Alvarez (2HR 3-4 2R 2BI in the 8-5 win over the Marlins) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 7.5 for the season, moving ahead of Kurtz (7.0 points), who falls to second place. Alvarez ranks 29th among all players.

Yordan Alvarez of the Astros climbs to first place among American League batters.

Notable: José Soriano, Angels

Soriano becomes the 17th player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors Monday.

Soriano (7IP 4H 2R BB 7K ND in the 3-2 win over the Cardinals) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 10.7 for the season, 12th among all players and fifth among AL pitchers.

This is his second straight season with 10 or more points. In 2025, he had 12.7 points with the Angels, 22nd overall and 11th among AL pitchers.

José Soriano, Angels, becomes the 17th player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors Monday.

Also notable: Willson Contreras, Red Sox

Contreras won Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for a second straight day Monday and becomes the second consecutive Red Sox player to win top player honors on back-to-back days.

Contreras (2B 3-4 R 2BI in the 6-5 win over the Orioles) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 6.0 for the season, fourth among AL batters. He also won Player of the Game honors Sunday (HR 1-3 2R 2BI in the 6-1 win over the Rays), earning 1.5 points as AL Batter of the Day.

Previously, teammate Wilyer Abreu won AL Batter of the Day honors on back-to-back days on Friday and Saturday. The Red Sox have won 14 games in a row.

Willson Contreras, Red Sox, won Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for a second straight day Monday.

Debut

Two players made their Box-Toppers debut Monday, each with their first career Player of the Game honor:

  • Petey Halpin of the Guardians (2HR 2B 3-5 3R 3BI in the 13-4 win over the Twins) made his Major League debut Sept. 20, 2025, and was playing in his 40th career game.

  • Braves closing pitcher Victor Mederos (2.1IP H 0R BB K Sv in the 3-2 win over the Padres) made his Major League debut June 30, 2023, and was playing in his 17th career game.

  • Turner earns 1.7 points as NL Player of the Day.
