Player of the Day: Zack Wheeler, Phillies
Wheeler struck out 10 over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, in the 5-0 win over the Tigers.
Wheeler earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 13.0 for the season, rising from ninth to seventh place among all players, fifth among National League pitchers.
Wheeler also now has 138.1 career Box-Toppers points, 37th among all players since tracking began in 1995. He trails 36th-ranked player Andy Pettitte (138.5) on the “all-time” career points list.
Wheeler ranks seventh among active, signed players in career points, and third among active NL pitchers, behind Chris Sale of the Braves (190.5) and Yu Darvish of the Padres (144.4).
AL Player of the Day: Payton Tolle, Red Sox
Tolle struck out seven over 3 2/3 innings, allowing one run, three hits and one walk, in the 3-2, 10-inning win over the Mets. Tolle did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Red Sox trailed when he exited.
Tolle earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as American League Player of the Day, giving him 7.7 for the season, 12th among AL pitchers.
NL Batter of the Day: Alex Bregman, Cubs
Bregman hit a three-run home run, doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 8-4 win over the Reds.
AL Batter of the Day: J.P. Crawford, Mariners
Crawford hit two doubles and went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 8-2 win over the Rays.
Crawford earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points as AL Batter of the Day, giving him 4.2 for the season, 13th among AL batters.
Notable: Paul Skenes, Pirates
Skenes becomes the 15th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2026 after earning Player of the Game honors Sunday.
Skenes (5.1IP 3H 2R BB 7K W in the 14-5 win over the Brewers) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 10.0 for the season, 13th among all players and seventh among NL pitchers.
This is his third straight season with 10 points. He had 13.0 points in his 2024 rookie season with the Pirates, 10th among NL pitchers and second among NL rookies (behind Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga’s 20.7 points). Skenes won 2024 NL Rookie of the Year.
In 2025, Skenes earned 21.1 Box-Toppers points, second among all players (behind Tiger pitcher Tarik Skubal’s 22.1 points) and first among NL pitchers (ahead of Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler’s 20.1 points).
