Player of the Day: Zack Wheeler, Phillies
Wheeler struck out eight over seven innings, allowing two runs, two hits and three walks, in the 6-4 win over the Padres.
Wheeler earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.0 for the season, 13th among all players and seventh among National League pitchers.
Wheeler also now has 132.1 career Box-Toppers points, 40th-most among all players since tracking began in 1995. He trails 39th-ranked player Jason Giambi (133.4) on the “all-time” career points list.
Wheeler is seventh among active, signed players in career points and third among active NL pitchers, behind Chris Sale of the Braves (190.5) and Yu Darvish of the Padres (144.4).
AL Player of the Day: Carlos Rodón, Yankees
Rodón struck out seven over six innings, allowing one run, two hits and three walks, in the 2-1 win over the Guardians. Rodón did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was tied when he exited.
Rodón earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as American League Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 71st among AL pitchers.
Rodón and Wheeler both recorded +6.0 Box-Toppers game scores Thursday, but Wheeler beat Rodón for overall Player of the Day honors on a tiebreaker with more innings pitched—seven vs. six.
This was Rodón’s fifth start of the season. His season debut was delayed until May following mid-October 2025 arthroscopic elbow surgery.
NL Batter of the Day: Jung Hoo Lee, Giants
Lee doubled and went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in one run, in the 12-9 win over the Brewers.
AL Batter of the Day: Josh Rojas, Royals
Rojas drove in the go-ahead run on a ninth-inning single, in the 8-6 win over the Twins. Rojas went 1-for-1 with two runs batted in.
