Player of the Day: Jeffrey Springs, Athletics

Springs struck out six over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks, in the 1-0 win over the Yankees.

Springs carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, before giving up a one-out single to Ben Rice. He retired the final two batters that inning and exited after 93 pitches.

Springs earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, rising to seventh place overall and fifth among American League pitchers.

NL Player of the Day: Randy Vásquez, Padres

Vásquez struck out eight over 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run, seven hits and no walks, in the 7-3, 12-inning win over the Rockies. Vásquez did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was tied when he exited.

Vásquez earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 3.4 for the season, rising to fourth place overall and first place among NL pitchers, passing previous leader Cristopher Sánchez of the Phillies (3.0 points).
