Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Other Player of the Game winners Saturday include Pete Alonso of the Mets and Kyle Higashioka of the Rangers.

Player of the Day

Castillo struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 1-0 win over the Pirates.

Castillo earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.7 for the season, 23rd among all players and 10th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day

Pete Alonso of the Mets hit two home runs, including a three-run homer, in the 12-6 win over the Yankees. Alonso went 2-for-4, scoring three times and driving in five runs.

Alonso earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 7.2 for the season, 34th among all players and fourth among NL batters.

National League Player of the Day is Pete Alonso of the Mets.

American League Batter of the Day

Kyle Higashioka of the Rangers homered, hit a sacrifice fly and went 3-for-3, scoring once and driving in five runs, in the 7-4 win over the Padres.

National League Batter of the Day

There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Saturday because the overall NL Player of the Day is batter Pete Alonso.
