Also Sunday, Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta rises to third place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning National League Player of the Day honors.

Other Player of the Game winners Sunday include Taylor Trammell of the Astros and Eugenio Suárez of the Diamondbacks.

Player of the Day

Skubal struck out 11 over 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, four hits and no walks, in the 2-1 win over the Rangers. Skubal did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Rangers tied the game after he exited.

Skubal earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 16.4 for the season, maintaining second place among all players, 1.7 points behind overall leader, Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler (18.1 points). He extends his lead over AL pitchers, 3.3 points ahead of second-place Garrett Crochet of the Red Sox (13.1 points).

National League Player of the Day

Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta struck out five over six innings, allowing one run, three hits and one walk, in the 8-1 win over the Nationals.

Pivetta earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 14.7 for the season, rising from fourth to third place overall, behind Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler (18.1 points) and Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal (16.4 points). He also ranks second among NL pitchers, 3.4 points behind Wheeler.

National League Player of the Day is Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta.

American League Batter of the Day

Taylor Trammell of the Astros homered, doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 11-3 win over the Mariners.

Eugenio Suárez of the Diamondbacks hit two home runs, including a three-run homer, in the 5-3 win over the Cardinals. Suárez went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs.

Suárez earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 6.5 for the season, eighth among NL batters.

This is the second straight day Suárez has earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors after also doing it Saturday (2HR 2-3 2R 3BI in the 10-1 win over the Cardinals). He earned 1.0 Box-Toppers points Saturday and 1.5 Sunday, a total of 2.5 over the past two days.

National League Batter of the Day is Eugenio Suárez of the Diamondbacks.
