Also Thursday, Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal rises to second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings, taking the lead among American League pitchers, after earning AL Player of the Day honors.

Player of the Day
Senga struck out five over 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 4-3 win over the Nationals.
Senga earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 8.0 for the season, 12th among all players and sixth among NL pitchers.
Senga exited the game with a right hamstring strain he suffered as he ran to cover first base and is headed for the injured list. The full extent of the injury is not yet known.
Senga suffered a left calf injury in his only 2024 start, July 26. He had been out with a shoulder strain until that start and subsequently missed the remainder of the regular season with the new injury. But he earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point in his only 2024 appearance.
American League Player of the Day
Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal (7IP 3H 0R 2BB 6K W in the 4-1 win over the Orioles) earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points, giving him 10.7 for the season, rising from third to second place in season player rankings behind Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler (11.1 points).
Skubal also rises to first place among AL pitchers, passing previous leader Carlos Rodón of the Yankees (9.7 points).
Skubal becomes the second player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his fourth season and fourth straight season with 10 or more points. In 2024, he earned 21.1 Box-Toppers points, second overall and first among AL pitchers.
American League Batter of the Day
Sam Haggerty of the Rangers hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer (1-1 R 3BI) in the 16-3 win over the Twins.
National League Batter of the Day
Mickey Moniak of the Rockies (HR 2-3 2R BI in the 8-7 win over the Giants) earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points, his first points of the season.
Debut
Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski made his Box-Toppers debut Thursday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
Misiorowski (5IP 0H 0R 4BB 5K W in the 6-0 wi over the Cardinals) was also making his Major League debut.

Senga earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day.
Skubal earns 1.7 points for being AL Player of the Day.
Haggerty and Moniak each earn 1.5 points for being their league’s Batter of the Day.
