Also Friday, Astros pitcher Hunter Brown becomes the new leader in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Other Player of the Game winners Friday include Cardinals pitcher Erick Fedde, Jasson Domínguez of the Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers.

Player of the Day

Skubal struck out 12 over seven innings, allowing one run, two hits and no walks, in the 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Skubal earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, second among all players, behind Astros pitcher Hunter Brown (6.4 points), who also won Player of the Game honors Friday. Skubal also ranks second among AL pitchers behind Brown.

Skubal led American League pitchers in Box-Toppers points in 2024 with 21.1, second overall.

National League Player of the Day

Cardinals pitcher Erick Fedde pitched a complete-game, six-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking none, in the 10-0 win over the Nationals.

Fedde earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 31st among NL pitchers.

American League Batter of the Day

Jasson Domínguez of the Yankees hit three home runs, including a grand slam, in the 10-2 win over the Athletics. Dominguez also hit a sacrifice fly and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in seven runs.

Domínguez earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points, giving him 2.5 for the season, 13th among AL batters.

National League Batter of the Day

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers hit a three-run homer, two doubles and went 3-for-6, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 14-11 win over the Diamondbacks.

Ohtani earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 2.5 for the season, 11th among NL batters.

Ohtani led NL batters with 11.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024. He now has 88.2 career Box-Toppers points since 2018—42.7 as a batter (48.4 percent) and 45.5 as a pitcher (51.6 percent). He has not yet pitched in 2025 as he recovers from 2023 elbow surgery. He last earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game as a pitcher Aug. 9, 2023, with the Angels. At that point, he’d earned 33.9 of his 73.7 career points as a batter (38.3 percent).

New season player rankings leader

Astros pitcher Hunter Brown becomes the new leader in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.

Brown (5.2IP 2H 0R 4BB 9K W in the 3-0 win over the Reds) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 6.4 for the season, rising from eighth to first place overall, passing previous leader, Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta (6.0 points), who falls to third place. Pivetta had led since April 22.

Brown also rises to first place among AL pitchers, passing previous leader Max Fried of the Yankees (5.7), who falls to third among AL pitchers.

Debut

White Sox relief pitcher Jordan Leasure made his Box-Toppers debut Friday with his first career Player of the Game honor

Leasure (1IP H 0R 0BB 2K ND in the 6-2 in over the Marlins) made his Major League debut March 30, 2024, and was playing in his 49th career game.
