Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Saturday’s National League Division Series Game 5, as the Milwaukee Brewers win the series, eliminating the Chicago Cubs.

NL Division Series Game 5: Brewers 3, Cubs 1

Misiorowski struck out three over four innings of middle relief, allowing one run, three hits, no walks and earning the win.

Misiorowski pitched the second, third, fourth and fifth innings, entering the game after Brewers starter Trevor Megill pitched one inning.

The Brewers win the best-of-five game series, 3-2, eliminating the Cubs.

Misiorowski earned 6.0 Box-Toppers points in 2025, 155th among all players, 50th among NL pitchers and fourth among NL rookie pitchers.

He becomes the first player to win Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors twice this postseason. He also did it Oct. 6 in the NLDS Game 2 win over the Cubs, pitching three innings of middle relief (3IP H 0R 2BB 4K W). That is his only other postseason game.

Misiorowski records a +2.0 Box-Toppers game score Saturday. One other Brewers pitcher, reliever Chad Patrick, recorded a higher score, +4.2, but did not qualify for initial consideration for Player of the Game honors because he did not pitch at least three innings or earn the win or save (1.2IP 0H 0R 0BB 3K ND). Abner Uribe, who earned the save for the Brewers had a +1.0 game score (2IP 0H 0R BB 0K Sv). Top Brewers batter Caleb Durbin had a 0.0 game score (2-2 0R 0BI).

Cubs opening pitcher Drew Pomeranz recorded a -1.0 Box-Toppers game score (1IP H R 0BB K ND). Cubs reliever Colin Rea, who picked up the loss, recorded a -2.8 game score (2.2IP 4H R BB 2K L).

The Brewers advance to the NL Championship Series beginning Monday in Milwaukee against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Though the Brewers are the top-seeded NL playoff team, the Cubs ranked higher in Box-Toppers final team rankings for 2025. The Cubs, the fourth NL playoff seed, rank seventh among all teams with their players accumulating 117.6 Box-Toppers points in 2025. The Brewers rank ninth with 112.6 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day. (No Box-Toppers points are awarded in postseason games.)

Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
