Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Tuesday, two players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after both earned Player of the Game honors—White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease rises to third place and Rays pitcher Corey Kluber rises to 10th.

Player of the Day—Bieber pitched a complete game, striking out seven and allowing one run, three hits and no walks, in the 4-1 win over the White Sox.

Bieber earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 35th among all players and 17th among American League pitchers.

Giants pitcher Logan Webb is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers NL Player of the Day.

National League Player of the Day—Giants pitcher Logan Webb struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks, in the 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Webb earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 5.7 for the season, 20th among NL pitchers.

Chad Pinder of the Athletics is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers AL Batter of the Day.

American League Batter of the Day—Chad Pinder of the Athletics hit a grand slam and went 1-for-3, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 14-7, 12-inning win over the Rangers.

Andrew Knizner of the Cardinals is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers NL Batter of the Day.

National League Batter of the Day—Andrew Knizner of the Cardinals went 3-for-4, driving in three runs, in the 7-6 win over the Dodgers.

This was Knizner’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Knizner made his Major League debut June 2, 2019, and was playing in his 144th career game.

White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Tuesday’s win over the Guardians.

Rankings—Two players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after both earn Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease (5.2IP 5H 0R 3BB 9K W in the 7-0 win over the Guardians) rises from sixth to third place with 13.0 Box-Toppers points, also third among AL pitchers, behind Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (16.0) and Shane McClanahan of the Rays (13.4).

Rays pitcher Corey Kluber (6IP 4H 2R BB 7K W in the 3-2 win over the Red Sox) rises to 10th place with 10.0 Box-Toppers points, sixth among AL pitchers.

Kluber becomes the 10th player this season to reach 10.0 Box-Toppers points. It is his sixth season with 10.0 or more points and his first since 2018 with the Indians. He had five straight seasons with 10.0 or more points with the Indians from 2014 to 2018, including four with more than 20.0:

  • 2014—25.8, second overall, first among AL pitchers.

  • 2015—13.4, 10th among AL pitchers.

  • 2016—21.2, fifth overall, first among AL pitchers.

  • 2017—22.0, fifth overall, second among AL pitchers.

Kluber was out with a broken arm and other injuries and did not earn points in 2019 or 2020, before rebounding, earning 5.0 points with the Yankees in 2020.

With his 1.0 point Tuesday, he passes Gary Sheffield (124.1) on the “all-time” list and now trails 44th-ranked Mariano Rivera (126.4).
