The Los Angeles Dodgers maintain their lead in Box-Toppers weekly team rankings for the second week.

Here are Box-Toppers 2020 season team rankings, through the games of Thursday, Aug. 27. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from Aug. 21 to Aug. 27. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of Aug. 20.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays, the week’s hottest team, rise to lead American League teams.

Dodgers players have accumulated 30.1 Box-Toppers points through the games of Aug. 27, picking up 6.0 points in the past week, most among all National League teams. They have baseball’s best winning percentage (.727).

The Dodgers are led by pitcher Clayton Kershaw with 4.7 Box-Toppers points, who ranks sixth among NL pitchers. Mookie Betts leads Dodgers batters with 2.5 Box-Toppers points, ninth among NL batters. Seventeen different Dodgers players have earned Box-Toppers points so far this season.

The Rays rise to lead AL teams with 27.4 Box-Toppers points, rising from fifth place overall last week to second place overall this week. The Rays were the hottest team of the week, picking up 7.5 points between Aug. 21 and 27. The Rays have the AL’s second-best winning percentage (.656), behind the Oakland Athletics (.688). The Athletics led AL teams in Box-Toppers rankings last week, but fall from second to third place overall this week with 27.3 points, picking up 4.7 points in the past week.

The Rays are led by pitcher Tyler Glasnow with 4.0 Box-Toppers points, sixth among AL pitchers. Top batter is Mike Brosseau with 2.7 Box-Toppers points. Seventeen different Rays players have earned Box-Toppers points so far this season.

The Miami Marlins rise the furthest in team rankings, rising eighth spots from 25th to 17th overall with 15.5 Box-Toppers points, earning 5.0 in the past week.

The Texas Rangers fall the furthest in team rankings, dropping seven spots from 19th to 26th with 13.2 points, earning 1.0 point in the past week.

The Pittsburgh Pirates maintain 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the second week with 9.5 Box-Toppers points, earning 5.5 points in the past week.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
