Marlins pitcher Eury Pérez is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Other Player of the Game winners Friday include Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal, Angels pitcher Reid Detmers, White Sox pitcher Sean Burke, Luke Keaschall of the Twins and Geraldo Perdomo of the Diamondbacks.
Player of the Day: Eury Pérez, Marlins
Pérez pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking one, in the 3-0 win over the Braves.
The only hit Pérez allowed was a sixth-inning lead-off single to Sean Murphy. He faced 29 batters and threw 105 pitches.
Pérez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 10.4 for the season, 35th among all players and 16th among National League pitchers.
Pérez becomes the 36th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2026, his first season with 10 or more points. His previous best season was 2025 with the Marlins when he had 7.0 points, 40th among NL pitchers.

AL Player of the Day: Reid Detmers, Angels
Detmers struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, in the 7-5 win over the Mariners.
He earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as American League Player of the Day, bringing hit total to 10.7 for the season, 33rd among all players and 16th among AL pitchers.
Detmers becomes the 37th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2026, his first season with 10 or more points. His previous best season was 2022 with the Angels when he had 7.0 points, 40th among AL pitchers.
With two days remaining in the regular season, 37 players have reached 10 or more points. This stands to be the fewest in a full 162-game season since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995, surpassing the previous record low of 38 set in 2017. However, 21 players currently sit between 9.0 and 9.7 points, just one Player of the Game honor away from joining the double-digit list.
AL Batter of the Day: Luke Keaschall, Twins
Keaschall tripled, doubled and went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 10-2 win over the Rangers.
This was his Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Keaschall made his Major League debut April 18, 2025, and was playing in his 199th career game. He exceeded rookie limits during the 2025 season.
NL Batter of the Day: Geraldo Perdomo, Diamondbacks
Perdomo tripled, doubled and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 11-4 win over the Padres.

Skubal has the most 2026 Box-Toppers points among Friday’s Player of the Game winners.
Skubal (7IP 3H 0R 0BB 10K W in the 2-0 win over the Giants) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 14.7 for the season, 18th among all players and 11th among NL pitchers.
Skubal led all players in 2025 with 22.1 Box-Toppers points with the Tigers and led AL pitchers each of the past two seasons with the Tigers—he had 21.1 points in 2024.
Notable: Sean Burke, White Sox
Burke now has 13.1 Box-Toppers points in 2026—22nd overall and 10th among AL pitchers—after earning Player of the Game honors Friday (5.1IP 4H R BB 7K W in the 6-1 win over the Rockies).

Blue Jays pitcher Brendan Cellucci (2IP H 0R 0BB 3K ND in the 6-5 win over the Reds), a 2026 rookie, made his Major League debut Sept. 15 and was playing in his sixth career game.
Nationals pitcher Gus Varland (1.1IP 0H 0R 0BB 2K W in the 7-6 win over the Mets), made his Major League debut March 30, 2023, and was playing in his 76th career game. He exceeded rookie limits during the 2023 season.
