Blue Jays pitcher Robbie Ray is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Sunday, Athletics pitcher Chris Bassitt rises to ninth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Ray struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 3-1 win over the Rays.

Ray earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, 55th among all players and 18th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman struck out nine over six innings, allowing one run, four hits and three walks, in the 3-1 win over the Nationals.

Gausman earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 9.7 for the season, 14th among all players and 10th among NL pitchers.

National League Batter of the Day—Ronald Torreyes of the Phillies hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

This was Torreyes’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Torreyes made his Major League debut Sept. 13, 2015, and was playing in his 282nd career game.
