Maeda struck out 12 over eight innings, allowing one run, one hit and two walks, in the 4-3, 12-inning win over the Brewers. Maeda took a no-hitter into the ninth inning before giving up a hit. He did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Brewers tied the game after he exited.

Maeda earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, 14th among all players and sixth among American League pitchers.

National League Batter of the Day—Nick Ahmed of the Diamondbacks hit a three-run homer and doubled in the 10-1 win over the Athletics. Ahmed went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in five runs.

Streak—Carlos Santana of the Indians has now earned Box-Toppers points in 11 straight seasons after earning his first Player of the Game honor of 2020 Tuesday.

Santana (HR 2-5 R 5BI in the 6-3, 10-inning win over the Pirates) earned his first points in 2010 with the Indians and now has 32.7 career points, 21st among active AL batters and fifth among active AL first basemen. Santana has kept his 11-season streak barely alive in three seasons in which he earned just 1.0 Box-Toppers point (2010, 2013 and 2017). His best season was 2014 with the Indians when he had 5.7 points. In 2019, he had 4.5 points with the Indians.

Notable—Astros pitcher Zack Greinke now has 209.1 career Box-Toppers points—second-most among active players—after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.
