Verlander struck out 12 over eight innings, allowing one run, one hit and one walk, in the 5-1 win over the White Sox.

Verlander earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 12.1 for the season, 3.1 points ahead of second-place player, Brewers closing pitcher Josh Hader (9.0). This was Davis’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Davis made his Major League debut Aug. 5, 2017, and was playing in his 105th career game.

Notable—Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw extends his lead in career Box-Toppers points among active players after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

Kershaw (6.1IP 6H 2R BB 8K W in the 7-3 win over the Rays) now has 218.5 career points, third among all players since 1995, when Box-Toppers tracking began. He trails second-ranked player Pedro Martinez (244.8). Kershaw leads active players in career points ahead of second-place player, Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia (201.4).
