Also Tuesday, two players in the top 10 of Box-Toppers season player rankings earned Player of the Game honors—Twins pitcher Jose Berrios rose to third place and Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole maintained his eighth-place ranking.
Player of the Day—Tanaka pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine and allowing three hits and one walk, in the 4-0 win over the Rays.
Tanaka earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 20th among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Cardinals pitcher Austin Gomber struck out six over 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, two hits and two walks, in the 4-2, 11-inning win over the Reds.
