The New York Yankees rise to lead Box-Toppers weekly team rankings report, passing the Houston Astros.

Team rankings

Here are Box-Toppers 2018 season team rankings, through the games of Thursday, June 7. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from June 1 to 7. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of May 31.

Meanwhile, the Washington Nationals maintain their lead among National League teams and the Minnesota Twins are the week’s hottest team.

Yankees players have accumulated 51.4 Box-Toppers points through the games of June 7, picking up 7.5 points in the past week, rising from second place last week. The Yankees also have baseball’s best winning percentage (.690).

The Yankees are led by pitcher Luis Severino with 13.7 Box-Toppers points, who ranks second among all players. Gary Sanchez leads Yankees batters with 3.0 Box-Toppers points, 20th among American League batters. Fifteen different Yankees players have earned Player of the Game honors so far this season.

The Astros fall to second place overall with 51.2 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.0 points in the past week.

The Nationals top NL teams for the fourth straight week with 47.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up 4.5 points over the past week, holding steady at fourth place overall.

Top player for the Nationals is pitcher Max Scherzer, who leads all players with 15.4 Box-Toppers points. Outfielder Bryce Harper leads Nationals batters with 3.0 points, 10th among NL batters. Thirteen different Nationals players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2018.

The Minnesota Twins are the past week’s hottest team, picking up 7.5 Box-Toppers points in the past week and rising four spots, from 19th to 15th place in team rankings with 37.6 points. 

Also rising four spots this past week is the San Francisco Giants, who rise from 22nd to 18th place with 35.9 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.0 points in the past week.

The New York Mets had the biggest decline of any team in the past week, dropping six spots from 18th to 24th place with 30.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up no points in the past week.

The Chicago White Sox rank in 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the second straight week with 22.4 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.0 points in the past week.

That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
