Also Tuesday, Twins pitcher Jose Berrios maintains his third-place spot in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—German struck out nine over seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned), two hits and no walks, in the 7-2 win over the Mariners.

German earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.0 for the season. He ranks 13th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 3-2 win over the Pirates.

Peralta had a Box-Toppers game score Tuesday of +11.0, same as overall Player of the Day Domingo German. But German held the tiebreaking advantage to earn Player of the Day because he had more innings pitched—seven vs. six.

Notable—Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels rises to 17th place in career Box-Toppers points since 1995 (when Box-Toppers tracking began) after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

Hamels (7IP 4H R 3BB 7K W in the 4-1 win over the Royals) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 159.8 career points. He passes Cubs pitcher Jon Lester (159.6) on the “all-time” list and now trails 16th-ranked John Smoltz (160.9).
