Player of the Day—Mengden pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout, striking out five and walking none, in the 3-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

National League Player of the Day—Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola struck out 10 over 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, one hit and three walks, in the 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. Nola picked up a no-decision and did not earn the win because the game was tied, 1-1, when he exited.

American League Batter of the Day—Mike Trout of the Angels homered and hit three doubles, going 5-for-5, scoring three times and driving in four runs, in the 11-4 win over the Yankees.

National League Batter of the Day—Christian Yelich of the Brewers tripled, doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 17-6 win over the Mets.

Notable—Brandon Crawford of the Giants rises to lead NL batters in 2018 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors Saturday. He also has the most 2018 Box-Toppers points of any of the 15 Player of the Game winners Saturday.

Crawford (HR 2B 2-3 R 2BI in the 5-4 win over the Cubs) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 6.0 for the season. He passes previous NL batting leader Travis Shaw of the Brewers (5.0 points). (Shaw only took the lead Friday.) Crawford ranks 15th in overall season player rankings.
