Dbacks' Patrick Corbin tops players for Wednesday, April 4; Yankees' Severino rises to lead Box-Toppers rankings

Diamondbacks pitcher Patrick Corbin is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Wednesday, Yankees pitcher Luis Severino rises to first place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Corbin struck out 12 over 7 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 3-0 win over the Dodgers.

Corbin earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 points for the season and rising to second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

American League Player of the Day—Athletics pitcher Sean Manaea allowed one run over eight innings, striking out four and allowing three hits and one walk, in the 6-2 win over the Rangers.

National League Player of the Day—Brandon Belt of the Giants homered and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 10-1 win over the Mariners.

American League Batter of the Day—Miguel Sano of the Twins doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 7-3 win over the Pirates.

Rankings—Yankees pitcher Luis Severino rises to first place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Wednesday.

Severino (7.1IP 5H 2R BB 7K W in the 7-2 win over the Rays) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 3.0 for the season, passing previous leader Paul DeJong of the Cardinals (2.5). Both Severino and Player of the Day Corbin have 3.0 Box-Toppers points for the season, but Severino ranks higher because he had more 2017 Box-Toppers points (21.2 vs. 9.7). Severino was Box-Toppers Player of the Day on March 29.
