Los Angeles Dodgers pass Houston Astros to top weekly Box-Toppers team rankings report

The Los Angeles Dodgers rose to the top of Box-Toppers team rankings this week, passing the previous leader Houston Astros.

Also, this week, the New York Mets were the hottest team of the week, picking up 15.4 Box-Toppers points since July 30, thanks to a winning streak and the major trade deadline acquisition of Yoenis Cespedes.

Dodgers players have accumulated 90.1 Box-Toppers points this season and lead all National League teams for the second straight week. They are led by pitchers Clayton Kershaw (15.0 Box-Toppers points) and Zack Greinke (14.0 points). Top batter is Andre Ethier (5.5). The Dodgers have baseball’s fourth-best winning percentage (.574). Twenty-five different Dodgers players have earned Player of the Game honors this season.

The St. Louis Cardinals have baseball’s best winning percentage (.639) and rank third among all teams in Box-Toppers points, with 87.0.

The Houston Astros fall to second place among all teams but still lead the American League for the third straight week. Astros players have accumulated 88.8 Box-Toppers points. The Astros are led by pitchers Dallas Keuchel (13.7 Box-Toppers points) and Scott Kazmir (11.7). Top batter is Jose Altuve (7.0 Box-Toppers points). Twenty-two different Astros players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors this season.

The New York Mets had the biggest jump of all teams, picking up 15.4 Box-Toppers points, rising from 10th to fifth among teams with 83.2 Box-Toppers points. Since July 30, the Mets have won six games with players earning bonus Box-Toppers points in four of those games, netting 8.7 Box-Toppers points in the past week. In addition, the Mets acquired left fielder Yoenis Cespedes and his 6.7 Box-Toppers points from the Tigers on July 31. (Since the trade, Cespedes has earned NL Batter of the Day honors in a Mets win, giving him 8.2 Box-Toppers points on the season.)

The Philadelphia Phillies remain in 30th and last place among all teams for the eighth straight week. The Phillies have 34.8 Box-Toppers points. Fourteen different Phillies players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors this season.
