Kevin Smith of the Athletics is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Friday’s spring training games.

Smith hit a grand slam, doubled and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in five runs, in the 12-11 win over the Rangers.

Pirates’ Perez tops player for Thursday, June 30; Blue Jays’ Kikuchi tops AL players

Michael Perez of the Pirates is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Perez hit three home runs and went 4-for-4, scoring three times and driving in five runs, in the 8-7 win over the Brewers.

Williams earned the win as the Cleveland Guardians edged the Tampa Bay Rays to take a 2-1 series lead in the American League Championship Series. Romero, meanwhile, led the Milwaukee Brewers as they swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

Pitcher Robert Gasser is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Wednesday’s National League Championship Series Game 3, as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Gasser struck out three over five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk. Although the Dodgers took a brief lead after he exited, Milwaukee rallied to move within one win of the NL pennant over the two-time defending champion Dodgers.

Pitcher Freddy Peralta is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Tuesday’s American League Championship Series Game 2, as the Rays beat the Guardians to even the series.

Freddy Peralta struck out six over six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks, as the Rays beat the Guardians 3-1.

Brewers' reliever Aaron Ashby and Guardians’ outfielder Chase DeLauter earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in Monday's League Championship Series action.

Ashby earned the save in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series as the Brewers took a 2-0 lead over the Dodgers. DeLauter, meanwhile, led the Guardians’ offensive surge past the Rays in the American League Championship Series opening game.

The American League’s top two-seeded teams play in the AL Championship Series, but Box-Toppers favors the second-seeded Cleveland Guardians over the top-seed Tampa Bay Rays.

The Rays have far more wins than the Guardians (98 vs. 85) but rank only marginally higher in Box-Toppers team rankings:

Rays: 115.0 combined Box-Toppers points in 2026, fifth overall, second among AL teams.
Guardians: 112.1 points, seventh overall, third among AL teams.

The Guardians hold the Box-Toppers edge over the Rays in several key categories.

Tracking who most helps their teams win the most games, based on box score stats. A method to measure & compare baseball's top players.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
