Nationals pitcher Mitchell Parker is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, making his Box-Toppers debut.
Also Sunday, three players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after each earned Player of the Game honors: Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow rises to third place, Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola rises to fourth place and Rangers closing pitcher Kirby Yates rises to eighth.
Player of the Day
Parker struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 6-0 win over the Astros.
Parker earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and ranks 73rd among all players.
This was Parker’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Parker made his Major League debut April 15 and was playing in his second career game.
American League Player of the Day
Yankees pitcher Luis Gil struck out nine over 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run (none earned), two hits and three walks, in the 5-4 win over the Rays.
Gil earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 17th among AL pitchers.
American League Batter of the Day
Buddy Kennedy of the Tigers homered, hit a sacrifice fly and went 1-for-2, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 6-1 win over the Twins.
This was Kennedy’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Kennedy made his Major League debut June 17, 2022, and was playing in his 42nd career game.
National League Batter of the Day
Jesus Sanchez of the Marlins homered and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 6-3 win over the Cubs.

Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow (8IP 7H 0R 0BB 10K W in the 10-0 win over the Mets) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 4.0 points for the season, rising to third place, second among NL pitchers, behind Freddy Peralta of the Brewers (5.0 points). Glasnow is one of seven players with 4.0 points but ranks second among them based on his 2023 point total (he earned 12.4 points with the Rays). Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert ranks first among the seven players with 4.0 points in 2024, earning 13.4 points in 2023.
Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola (8IP 4H 2R BB 7K W in the 8-2 win over the White Sox) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 4.0 points for the season, rising to fourth place, third among NL pitchers. Nola is one of seven players with 4.0 points and ranks third among them because he has the third-most 2023 points (12.0).
Rangers closing pitcher Kirby Yates (1.1IP 0H 0R 0BB K Sv in the 6-4 win over the Braves) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 4.0 points for the season, rising to eighth place, third among AL pitchers and first among AL closers, ahead of Craig Kimbrel of the Orioles (2.0 points).
